For the record, I am a huge fan of social media!
I am fascinated with the authentic connection that platforms like Instagram and Facebook foster. It’s such a great opportunity for us to freely showcase our unique skills, gifts and talents, and share our art openly. It is something that we should never take for granted.
While I have seen so much good come from social media, I’m not naive to the negative effects of social media as well.
I teach all of my blogging clients strategies to grow their online presence and drive traffic to their blogs via social media (click here for a free PDF download, 10 Ways to Increase Your Instagram Engagement), but what I don’t want to is leave out all of the ways NOT to use social media as a blogger.
Here are the 5 Instagram mistakes that the pros NEVER make.
Sharing content and properly attributing the creator of it is great! Taking a screenshot of someone’s quote, photo or artwork, and then sharing it to your own profile without their permission or any attribution – NOT okay at all.
Like and reply to comments from your followers. Even if you can’t respond to every single one, you sure can respond to a handful!
Listen – it doesn’t matter if you haven’t washed your hair in days, followers want to see your face and hear your voice. They want to connect with you, and know that there is a real person on the other side of your Instagram handle.
All the pros utilize the link in the bio section of their profile. It is the best way for someone to be brought straight to your blog or lead magnet content. Good news, ANYONE can utilize this. People truly want to connect with you on social media! Help them do that.
The best of the best don’t place themselves as some sort of standard for excellence. They NEVER force followers to mimic their lifestyle! The pros actively encourage their followers to embrace WHO THEY ARE, and recognize their own beauty.
Woosh – good talk team! Honestly – the fact that you even care to show up on social media in a positive way speaks volumes about the amazing person you are!
Now that we’ve covered 5 Mistakes The Pros Never Make On Instagram, let’s talk about the 10 most helpful changes you can make to your Instagram profile today that will help increase your engagement.
