Affirmation: the assertion that something exists or is true. A statement or proposition that is declared to be true (dictionary.com).
Affirmations are powerful because thoughts are powerful. Thoughts are so powerful because WE are powerful! In fact, our thoughts are so powerful that everything you see began as a thought. Books, technology, candles, cars, coffee…you name it – it was a thought. An idea. A knowing that was honored with action.
On your road to deeper creativity, you’ll encounter self-imposed barriers called “limiting beliefs.” For one reason or another, we allow these nasty little lies to take up important mental real estate, and over-time convince ourselves that they are true – but they are not.
The thing about these limiting beliefs is that we don’t vanquish them by ignoring them, or shooing them away when they come. We vanquish thoughts by REPLACING them. We replace them with the truth. We replace them with positive thoughts that build us up, and don’t break us down.

This is just one reason why affirmations are a priceless tool for deeper creativity. By repeating these affirmations every single time a limiting belief enters our inner dialogue, we will begin to believe them on a conscious and unconscious level. When we replace limiting beliefs with affirmations, we can see more clearly the narrative we’ve woven that has been keeping us back from the divinely confidence and creative life that is the birthright of every artist.

Now, let’s dive a bit deeper. Below is a powerful creativity practice that you can use to apply the creative affirmations above in your life.
Find a space to sit down and relax. This step can be inside your home, in your cubicle, outside, on a bus. Wherever you find yourself, be present. Remind yourself that this is exactly where you need to be at this present moment. You brought yourself here for a reason. You’re reading this post for a reason. There are no accidents like this. You can sense deep down that this is time you need to reconnect. This time is yours, and there is more than enough of it for you babe.
Next, take 3 – 5 deep breathes or as many as you need to be present. Oftentimes when we feel nervous, anxious or scared we unconsciously hold our breathe. If you have been holding your breath, notice that and breathe in slowly and deeply. By breathing deeply we can re-establish a sense of safety and security, and ground ourselves in the present, once again.
Now, read through the list of affirmations again. Pay attention to what changes in your mind, body and spirit when you are reading the affirmations in this list. Often times there are specific affirmations that stand out to you more than the others. Take note of them. Write them down in your phone or on a separate piece of paper. You’ll need these for Step #3.
Once you’ve read through the list of creative affirmations and pulled out the one that resonated with you the most, I want you to think about exactly WHY that affirmation stood out to you the most.
Get curious about you. Ask yourself
“Show me why this specific creative affirmations resonates so deeply with me?”
And be open to the response, no matter how it arrives. It may be a passing thought. A whisper. A word or phrase. It may be a memory that comes to mind. No matter how it comes, be open to observing it. Be open to discovering more about yourself here.
And then honor the knowing by writing it down.
I believe that our inner knowing will reveal to us any limiting beliefs we hold if we simply give ourselves the space to discover what those limiting beliefs are. Think of these creative affirmations as flashlights, illuminating a limiting belief that must be replaced.
You could also think of your list of creative affirmations as one side of a coin. These specific affirmations above stood out to you for a reason, and on the other side of that creative affirmation is a limiting belief that has been “face up” for way too long and is now ready to be placed FACE DOWN baby!
Then, make a commitment to FOREVER and ALWAYS replace that limiting belief with the creative affirmation that resonated so deeply with you. The creative affirmation is truth. It is light. Believe it and shine it often!
